Keeping Your Data in Sync

When using multiple machines it is important to keep your Logins and other 1Password information in sync between them. Thankfully there are a few options available.

Using Agile’s my1Password Web Service

The my1Password web service was designed to help you access your information while away from your Mac, as well as to provide a mechanism to synchronize your 1Password data across all your Macs.

The my1Password web service is currently in private beta testing. Invitations will be sent to the Agile Newsletter; signup to receive your invitation as soon as my1Password is ready.

Using Apple’s .Mac Service

You can synchronize your 1Password data using Apple’s .Mac service.

1Password actually does not have any involvement with .Mac syncing, it is owned and handled completely by Apple. 1Password uses the OS X keychain to store all your data and thereby inherits the .Mac functionality “for free”. To enable .Mac syncing, select the Synchronize this keychain using .Mac in the keychain preferences, as shown here:

Enable .Mac Syncing of 1Password Keychain

If you encounter problems getting the syncing to start, the first thing we always recommend with .Mac sync problems is to try forcing the sync as detailed here.
